"I don't really have a special talent. I'm just passionately curious."
(Albert Einstein)
If you are at the turning point in your life, you don't know what to do with a topic or you have the feeling that you cannot cope with planned changes on your own, then a life coach will support you as a companion at your side in developing your own solutions and realizing them.
The coach challenges you again and again to question how YOU achieve the individual aspects of your life goals. He develops your inner strength and your potential so that you can achieve what you want. A life coach inspires you every time anew to change your lifestyle in such a way that it is in harmony with what YOU want to achieve.
Life coaching is NOT a therapy. Although I am a qualified psychologist, I do not have the therapeutic training. If a pathological disorder is suspected, I will communicate this openly and refer to a psychotherapist or doctor. Of course, I like to work in cooperation with doctors or therapists to support you on your way! A mutual exchange is a prerequisite for this.
While therapy is typically aimed at healing a disorder, the focus in life coaching is on the HEALTHY coachee (= you), who already has all the potential to develop his own solutions. A life coach does not provide any solutions or even "quick fixes", but supports and accompanies the coachee through professional methods in successfully achieving his life goals.
If you are open and ready to work seriously on your topics and try out new ways of thinking and behaving, then life coaching is just right for you.
Unfortunately, the profession of life coach is not regulated or protected. That means, to be allowed to work as a life coach, you don't need any training or studies. Everyone can call themselves a "coach" and can start working with clients. When making your choice, look for the right coach for you, on the one hand, to see if he or she suits you (is the chemistry right, do you have the feeling that you can confide in him or her?). On the other hand, find out about his training or studies. Of course, knowledge does not guarantee perfect implementation, but you can then be sure that the coach has dealt extensively with his dream job and has appropriate methodological and specialist knowledge. This also means that a good coach will communicate openly to you if coaching or working with him is not what will help you at the moment.
The most important thing for the sessions is that you can be 100% present. I always advise you to eliminate or prevent possible disruptions 15 minutes before the session (e.g. keep your smartphone quiet, get a glass of water, use the toilet ...) You also need a stable internet connection. I prefer video telephony and offer Zoom, Skype or FaceTime. However, if you only want to make a phone call, then of course that is also possible!
